Meet the Idaho Apartment Association Board!

Summer Hazen, Board President and Director of Operations at Fortified Property Solutions LLC.

Summer’s career in the multi-family housing industry spans 19 years; serving as a Senior Community Manager, Regional Manager, and Vice President. In 2024, Summer was the IAA Board Treasurer.

1️⃣ Why are you involved with the Idaho Apartment Association?
The Idaho Apartment Association is more than an organization to me — it’s a community. It’s where we come together to learn from each other, support each other, and continue moving our industry forward. Being part of IAA gives me the opportunity to work alongside some of the best people in our industry while helping grow our teams, strengthen our communities, and support housing across Idaho. It’s truly an honor to serve this association and the people behind it.

2️⃣ What advice would you give to your younger self?
I would tell my younger self to hold herself to a higher standard than anyone else expects, and to build a life she’s excited to wake up to every day. And most importantly — don’t be afraid of failure. Every setback is just part of the journey toward success.

3️⃣ What are your hobbies or interests outside of work?
In another life, I’d probably be an author. I love writing stories and creating things. When I’m not deep in a book, you’ll usually find me spending time with my family, traveling, or enjoying the outdoors. Those moments help keep me grounded and remind me why the work we do matters.
